Tomball Lions Club Car Show 2026: What to Know and How to Prep Your Ride

By Sam Davis · · 6 min read

One of North Houston’s Longest-Running Car Shows Is Back

The 32nd Annual Tomball Lions Club Car Show returns on Saturday, March 22, 2026. If you live anywhere in Tomball, Spring, The Woodlands, or the greater North Houston area, this is one of the best local automotive events of the spring — and one of the longest-running in the region.

Whether you’re entering a vehicle, browsing the rows with your family, or just looking for an excuse to get outside on a Saturday morning, here’s everything you need to know about the event and how to make sure your ride looks its absolute best if you’re showing it.

Event Details

  • Date: Saturday, March 22, 2026
  • Location: 13620 Zion Rd, Tomball, TX 77375
  • Vehicles: Up to 350 cars, trucks, and motorcycles
  • Registration: $25 pre-registration (closed March 18), $35 at the gate day-of. The first 100 pre-registered entries received a dash plaque.
  • Contact: Al Gerhardt, 713-410-6542

The show draws a wide range of vehicles — classic muscle cars, hot rods, restored trucks, modern exotics, and everything in between. With up to 350 vehicles on display, there’s serious variety and serious competition. If you’re entering, the condition of your paint, wheels, and interior matters more than you might think.

Why Show Prep Matters

Car show judging — whether formal or informal — comes down to details. Judges and spectators are looking at the same things: paint clarity, reflection depth, the absence of swirl marks, how clean the wheel barrels are, whether the tires have a uniform finish. Two identical vehicles parked side by side will look dramatically different if one has been properly corrected and coated while the other rolled in with wash-induced swirls and oxidized trim.

Even at a casual show like the Lions Club event, the vehicles that draw the most attention are the ones with paint that looks wet under direct sunlight. That kind of finish doesn’t happen from a quick wash. It comes from proper paint correction and protection — the kind of work that removes defects from the clear coat and then locks in a deep, reflective gloss.

Show Prep Checklist

If you’re entering on March 22, here’s what a thorough show prep looks like, broken down by priority.

Paint Correction

This is the single highest-impact step. Paint correction removes swirl marks, light scratches, water spot etching, and oxidation from your clear coat using machine polishing. The result is a surface that reflects light cleanly instead of scattering it — which is exactly what creates that deep, mirror-like finish judges look for.

If your vehicle has never been corrected, or if it’s been a year or more since its last polish, this is where you’ll see the biggest visual transformation. A multi-stage correction on a dark-colored vehicle can make it look like it just rolled off the showroom floor. If you are not sure whether your paint needs correction, our breakdown of what paint correction is and when your car needs it covers the signs to look for.

Ceramic Coating for Depth and Gloss

A professional ceramic coating does two things for a show car. First, it adds a measurable layer of gloss and depth to corrected paint — GYEON MOHS EVO, the coating we install, produces a hard, candy-like finish that amplifies the correction work underneath. Second, it makes day-of maintenance dramatically easier. Dust, pollen, and fingerprints wipe off a coated surface with a light mist of detail spray and a microfiber towel. On uncoated paint, that same dust requires a full wash to remove safely.

If you already have a ceramic coating, make sure it’s performing. Spray some water on a flat panel — if it beads tightly and rolls off, you’re good. If the beading looks flat or sluggish, a ceramic boost spray before the show will restore hydrophobic performance and add a fresh layer of gloss.

Interior Detailing

Show judges look inside. A flawless exterior paired with dusty vents, dirty floor mats, and fingerprinted glass tells people the car was rushed to the show. Vacuum everything — seats, carpet, crevices, trunk. Wipe down the dashboard, center console, and door panels. Clean all interior glass. Condition leather surfaces. Dress rubber and vinyl trim.

For show vehicles, the interior should look as intentional as the exterior. Every surface should look like it was cleaned on purpose, not just wiped down in a hurry.

Wheels, Tires, and Trim

Wheels are one of the first things people notice at a show. Clean the faces, the barrels, and the lug nut area. If your wheels have brake dust buildup or water staining, an iron decontamination spray will dissolve embedded metallic particles that regular soap can’t touch.

Dress your tires with a satin-finish tire gel — avoid anything that leaves a greasy, high-shine look, which tends to sling product onto fenders and attract dust. Dress any exterior rubber or plastic trim to restore a uniform dark finish.

What You Can Still Do in a Week

With the show on March 22, here’s a realistic breakdown of what’s still on the table.

Book this week (if spots are available):

  • A full paint correction typically takes a full day for a single-stage and two days for a multi-stage. If you can get on the schedule by mid-week, a correction is still possible before Saturday.
  • A ceramic coating needs 24-48 hours of cure time before the vehicle is exposed to the elements. That means the coating needs to go on by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest.

DIY in the days before:

  • A thorough hand wash with pH-neutral soap and a clay bar pass to remove surface contamination.
  • A spray sealant or ceramic boost to add a temporary layer of gloss and protection.
  • Full interior detail — vacuum, wipe, condition, glass.
  • Wheel cleaning, tire dressing, and trim restoration.

Not enough time for:

  • Paint protection film installation requires scheduling, precise cutting, and cure time. It’s not a same-week service. But if you’re thinking about PPF for long-term protection after the show, spring is the ideal time to get it done before the Texas summer heat arrives.

Day-of Tips

A few things that separate the prepared entries from the ones that clearly didn’t plan ahead.

Bring shade. If you have a pop-up canopy or EZ-Up, bring it. March in Tomball can be 80 degrees by mid-morning, and direct sun on a dark vehicle means water spots from morning dew and dust bonding to hot paint. Shade keeps the surface cool and manageable.

Bring a detail spray and microfiber towels. No matter how clean your car is when you arrive, it will collect dust during setup. A quick-detail spray and a clean microfiber towel let you do a final wipe before judging without risking scratches. Bring at least three or four towels — one side gets dirty fast.

Arrive early and park strategically. Get there with enough time to wipe down the car, set up your display, and let any products settle before the crowds arrive. If you can choose your spot, avoid parking under trees (sap and bird droppings) or in high-traffic walkways where people are more likely to lean against your vehicle.

Keep the interior open. Pop the hood, open the trunk, crack a door or two. People want to see the full picture, and judges are looking at the complete package. A clean engine bay and a detailed trunk are competitive advantages that most entries ignore.

Not Showing? Spring Is Still the Time to Detail

Even if you’re not entering the Lions Club show, the event is a good reminder that spring is the best time of year to invest in your vehicle’s appearance and protection. Winter road grime is still on the paint. Pollen season is building. And the brutal Texas summer — with its UV exposure, heat cycles, and sudden downpours — is only weeks away.
